ME ASIAN!? EXHIBITION
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION OF ASIA SCHOLARS 11
International Institute for Asian Studies
Leiden, The Netherlands
The Me Asian!? Visual Archive is an exhibition of Me Asian!? digital image collection that responds to the question: ‘What does it mean to be Asian in Europe?’ The growing collection is created through an open submission via social media campaign #measianluc that invites the viewer to think of – rituals, places, objects, food, or traditions that are updated representations of the global Asian aesthetic. The project is organised by Non Native Native Embassy, an initiative that explores the practice of Asian creatives based in The Netherlands, together with Leiden University College The Hague (LUC).
The 11th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) is the most inclusive international gathering in the field of Asian Studies. ICAS attracts participants from over 75 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas.
The programme is curated by The Non Native Native Embassy, a cultural platform which looks into the Asian creative landscape in The Netherlands through the lens of the outsiders from within. The platform is initiated by Belle Phromchanya & Darunee Terdtoontaveedej and is supported by Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie.
